Prayer for the Day

January 15, 2013

I don’t know where I got this – it’s not orginal – but it’s too good not to pass along!

“God of the depths, searcher of hearts,
You know the tulmult of my life, a busyness that bruises those nearest,
a loneliness that claws at the soul,
a fearfulness that leads to distrust and cynicism.
You know my longingfor a more centere life
- time for reflection in prayer,
gracious, unhurried times with friends and family;
renewing rest and exercise;
growing moments to deepen my faith and witness.
God of my days and my wishes,
lead me today so I can let go of that which pulls me from your path.
Give me courage to persist in prayer,
excel in kindness
and walk gently on the earth.
Heal the wounds I carry,
fogive the sins I committed yesterday and I will commit today,
and lead me to new life.
In the name of Jesus.
Amen.”

    Such a true sentiment. Thank you. I’ve been looking for the Bible study you have referenced many times, Enjoying God, for personal study. Can you help me?

      Thank you. It is not in a Bible study format but the basis of my book Fear Not Tomorrow, God is already There. I loved writing that book. When we ask, “What is God like?” We look to Jesus who is God’s exact representation. So I turned to the Gospel and looked over Jesus’ shoulder to see How he dealt with real people in real time.

        Thanks. I thought that might be the theme running through your book. I’m looking forward to reading it. I think it will help. The emotional part of relating to God is not easy for me.
        In my work – and in my personal relationship with God, I find so much father-stuff gets projected onto our heavenly Father. My desire is to understand it the other way around – to understand how my heavenly Father can be glimpsed in any moments of blessing I experience with my dad.
