Shooting in Florida

March 26, 2012

Well, the intermittent signal for my internet service quit! I could not get logged into my blog site. Frustrating. My sweet friend, Jim Whitmre, patiently helped me. Turns out my little “my fi” needs to be placed in my home window for a better signal. Never mind that I have been using it exactly the same way way for months – now it decided to go on the fritz! I’ll never understand technology!

Anyway, I have been thinking about this situation down in Florida where the young teen was shot. What a tragedy. My heart aches for his parents. Can you imagine sending your son out to the store for candy only to get a phone call that he is dead. Wow!

There is a second tragedy unfolding. We do not yet know the facts but the shooter has been declared guilty in the press. I am deeply disturbed by the rush to judgement. There has even been a bounty put on his head! This man is in hiding for fear of his life. The demonstrations are spreading across the country all demanding justice. What I think they really mean is they want revenge. The KKK was heinous – to be condemned. But is this the same thing in reverse? A person has been wronged and the crowd is angry demanding justice. If it continues to escalate, will matters be taken into hand by the angry mob. I pray not – that reason will rule the day.

In our country, a person is innocent until proven guilty. Let’s let our system work and in the meantime, pray for all involved.

Oh, how tragic! Surely he must regret the day he bought that high powered gun, Oh, Lord, we ask You to accomplish Your redemptive purposes through this tragedy. And may we all be reminded of our need to draw close to our Lord and Savior each and every day, that He may protect us from ourselves because we may not be so far from doing something totally crazy ourselves.

Thank you, Ruth, for all that you do and for your honesty. Speaking of crazy, electronics are enough to drive many of us over the edge, I totally share your frustration.

      Sharon
