Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love Valentines Day! My mother always made the day festive and I guess she passed that on to me. I love to celebrate it. It is so worth celebrating!
Tonight I am having four single women in for dinner. I have had fun getting ready – I am trying to keep it simple. Two are widowed. Two are divorced. No one wants to be alone on Valentine’s Day – being with girlfriends is the best way to beat the blues. I am serving 3-cheese Quiche, roasted asparagus, fruit salad and cherry pie. Each will get a box of chocolate and when they leave I will divide the centerpiece flowers since I am leaving town tomorrow and they will not survive my absence. My prayer is that each one experience a special evening and go home with joy and new friends.
Of course, the greatest love to celebrate isn’t human love but God’s love for us. Unconditional. Redeeming. He loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die to liberate us from the bondage of sin and death. “See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God; and such we are…” And because of Him, we will never be truly alone – even on Valentine’s.
Jesus provides all we need:
He is building you a big mansion. He gives you beautiful jewels and robes. He listens to everything you say. He never tires of you. He thinks you are fascinating. He carries your burdens. He wipes your tears – and counts each one. He loves to spend time with you. He will never betray you. Never forsake you. Never reject you. He protects you. He thinks you are beautiful. Forgives you freely. Provides for every need. understands you perfectly. He is exceedingly patient and never grumpy. His kindness is loving. He keeps everything in order. He’s never late. He isn’t distracted when you are talking. He holds your hand and invites you into His arms. He comforts you when you are sad. He never lets you down. He soothes you when you are weary. He’s perfect in every way and He will choose the best for you if you leave the choice to Him.
“For who in heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the lord?” Psalm 89:6
This is better than chocolate! Happy Valentine’s Day, Ruth. You’ve pictured such a loving God–you truly help me see Him.
Great way to celebrate Valentines! I salute you! Enjoy! Lydia
Thank you for this reminder of our true Valentine, Jesus ! Like many other women this year, facing Valentine’s Day alone due to divorce, death or betrayal can be difficult. Your post uplifts the brokenhearted! Blessings to you Ruth and enjoy your friends.

Hi Ruth,
I am hoping I can attach a photo to share with you what I found on Valentines Day…it was such a heart felt message from God to me…I am loving learning more and more how much He loves me and seeing that unfold in my freedom to pour out that love for others.
Bless you Ruth as you model that.
